Early Brose C, T, TF motors had no seal covering the right hand crankshaft bearing. This seal is extremely effective at stopping water and dirt entering the bearing and ultimately the motor.

This is also a direct replacement if your Brose S or S-Mag seal is missing, worn or damaged. (For 1.2, 1.3, 2.1 and 2.2 motors)

Once the seal has been fitted over the sprocket carrier it will be pushed down when the chainring spider is re-fitted.

This high quality laser cut gasket will fit Brose S-Mag 2.1 & 2.2 and fits between the motor and the drive belt cover.

This high quality laser cut gasket will fit Brose aluminium1.2, 1.2e, 1.3, C, S , T and TF motors

2 sprag clutch bearings are used in every Brose motor. Sprag clutch bearings allow rotation of a shaft in one direction but not the other. These bearings require lubrication to work reliably, but also rely on friction when they are required to stop rotation.

Special grease MUST be used. If a high pressure, or low friction grease like standard bearing grease, Teflon or ceramic based greases etc., the sprags will slip while under extreme load, causing a high wear rate. This can also cause the bearing to slip and grip violently causing premature failure.

This is a deliberately small pot of sprag bearing grease but still more than enough for both bearings. This grease should be applied as a thin film to the outside of the bearing and to lubricate the inner bearing race, a thin film of grease (approx 1mm thick) should be applied to the shaft that the bearing is to be fitted onto.

Both sides of a Brose carbon fibre drive belt must be liberally lubricated with “technical” Petroleum Jelly (Vaseline). Failure to do this will result in high wear and temperature of the belt and can lead to excessive noise.

Technical Vaseline, is a non corrosive mixture of oils and long chain non-polar hydrocarbons, but generally thicker than pharmaceutical Vaseline. The low melting point of this product ensures re-lubrication should the belt become dry and begin to heat up.

Best applied with a small brush (an old toothbrush is ideal).

PLEASE NOTE: Not to be used on the Brose Polymer drive belt fitted to some models from 2021. The Polymer belt should be fitted dry. A Polymer drive belt will have a shiny, brownish looking back, with a slippery feel.
Tip: Do not over bend a Polymer belt.
